Moosemastery
With Johnny Aphid on vocals. Nick Moosemaster on Guitar. Angus Apricot on a second guitar. Probably Peter Pollen on bass. And very possibly Andrew Anteater on drums? We think…
Moosemastery is an alternative band. Yeah. You heard me. Strange concept. Alternative. Like that’s new and different. If it’s 1991 again. Okay. So maybe they are just a rock band with some elements in absentia. Indie? Are they indie? There’s a label that really doesn’t mean anything. So how about Alternative / Indie / Rock? How does that sound? Can we call it that? It sounds pretty lame, but maybe it is the truth. Can you use the word “rock” anymore without looking like a jerk? Oh well, I give up. Decide for yourself.

You may well have heard of them back when they were Johnny and the Abject Aphids, circa 1993. Well, maybe you did. It was worth a shot. Some of the Aphids quit, or passed away, or something. Times change. The sound may be pretty much the same though. You may also remember Johnny from previous bands of little significance like Toaster Streudel Future, Monstrous Truck Monster, and of course the considerably less popular Johnny Aphid Get Your Hand Out Of My Pocket. Now he’s going in a new direction.. Now Johnny Aphid is back. He ain’t too happy. He was kind of cranky before, but now… He seems downright cheesed off. He has convinced Nick, Angus, and Pete to join him on this new franchise called simply, Moosemastery. Nobody is all too clear on what this means, but Andrew has already most likely quit the band saying, “It is all just so silly really. I mean, what are they talking about? Master of mooses? Or is the moose supposed to be master? I never understood anything Johnny was talking about. Stupid drunk bastard. I think he might be a pinko.” Asked to comment, Angus had this to say, “Excuse me, did you say pinko? Hmmm … probably. That would explain a lot. The important thing is that we definitely need a drummer … and a van. Andy took the van.” Peter, when questioned on the subject replied, “Yeah, I think he did take the van. Did you see which way he went? No? Well, do you at least know of a better band than this that might need a new bass player? I’m getting tired of the caribou costume. It chafes. A lot.” The important thing is that Johnny Aphid is back where he belongs, playing in a band with a silly name and wearing what appears to be an antelope outfit. Moosemastery has some shows lined up locally for the summer, but the details are murky. Moderate is their new quasipolitical, possibly pinko album hitting stores later this spring. Check it out.
