With his latest offering, “Little Master Lemur Monkey”, Maximillian Moped is off in a new direction. He seems to have completely abandoned his techno / industrial roots. He has taught himself to play some chords, at least three according to rumors. His new vision may be a bit different than his previous outings with outfits like “der Spoonmachine” and “Wunderspoonmachten Ein!” People say that he’s sold out, now that he’s in his thirties. He denies this implicitly. “I sold out long ago,” he claims while nibbling on a herring sandwich. “Anyone who seriously doubts this, should listen to my last album again. It’s drivel. It did help put my kids through fancy prep schools though.” That being said, his true fans haven’t completely forsaken him. One such fellow, Otto Turtlehausen, waited all night for tickets to his one man show last month down at Jerry’s Fish n’ Chips on Mulberry at 14th. It turned out that nobody else bought tickets, so the show was cancelled, but Otto claims to still believe in Max. “He’s a living legend,” states Mr. Turtlehausen. “I’ve followed his career since the beginning. You know, I first saw him back when he was just called Milton Mop, and he fronted that lounge act called Milt and the Moptones. They were awesome! They all wore leopard print leotards and sang doo wop covers of post-disco, Norwegian death metal bands every Wednesday afternoon down at McSwirley’s. That was back in the early nineties I think. Those were good times. Not like now. Now it’s all just crap. But back then, man, you could just feel that Milton was going places.”
