Ahoy all!

Sophistic Music is an independent label. We are representing several bands in the Philadelphia area. Bands are listed on the right. We are not entirely like most labels, and we are entirely comfortable with that.

The label was created with the purpose of enabling listeners to listen to the music of a few local bands simply and easily. Everyone in this life seems to want to sell stuff, but we don’t. We make music here, and we like making it. If you want to check out what we make, we are happy to have people listen. For free. As much as they want. Simple.

With this site, Sophistic Music is finally managing our own content on the internet. There were numerous quality control issues in posting music on other sites, so we have at last made our own. Some of those sites, not to mention any by name, are really a nuisance for anyone who actually means to listen to independent music. Those sites were annoying to both listeners and us. So we made our own site, hoping to simplify the process. Hooray for us.

The purpose of the site is to make the music available to all listeners for free. Free. Completely free. There are no download fees of any kind, and no ridiculous forms to fill out. There is nothing to join. We do not really want to sell you anything. Weird, huh? Not really. Just download the music if you want to listen to it. Simple. We want you to. Nothing could make us or any band on here happier than if people listen. Music is made to be listened to, so please feel free to listen. We want that. This is in point of fact, all that we want.

However, we own the copyrights to the music, or the musicians do at any rate, and we all don’t want you using it for your own projects without our express permission. Our express permission. Sampling, altering, or profiting off of any music that belongs to us is very much frowned upon. We will find you, and we will get you. Seriously. We will. Anyone passing off any of this music as their own for any reason will not be treated lightly by us. All rights are essentially reserved. The appropriate licences to that effect are under the heading “Legal.”

So listen if you have a minute, but don’t rip us off. Simple.
